How AI-Optimized Titles Are Boosting Our Clients’ Search Visibility by up to 85%

AI Titles

A behind-the-scenes look at how DataFeedWatch’s AI title optimization is helping Adhere Digital clients show up in more searches – without spending an extra cent on ads.

The Problem With Short Product Titles

If you sell products online, your title is doing more work than you probably realize. It’s not just a label – it’s the single biggest lever for whether your product shows up when a shopper searches for it. A title that reads “Stanley Chalk Refill Blue 113g” is accurate, but it’s leaving a lot of search real estate on the table. It says nothing about what the product is for, what makes it distinct, or the other terms a shopper might actually type into Google.

That’s the gap DataFeedWatch’s AI-powered title optimization is built to close. Rather than replacing your titles, it enriches them – adding relevant, high-intent keywords pulled from product attributes, category context, and shopper search behavior. The result is a title that’s longer, more descriptive, and far more likely to match the exact phrase a customer searches for.

What We Tested

We wanted to know: how much more “keyword-rich” do titles actually get once AI optimization is applied? So we ran a feed comparison across three of our clients, measuring the character length of every product title before and after DataFeedWatch’s AI enhancement – thousands of products in total, spanning different categories and catalog sizes.

The results were consistent, and in some cases dramatic:

Client Avg. Title Length
(Before)
Avg. Title Length
(AI-Optimized)
% Increase
Client A 52.3 characters 92.7 characters +77%
Client B 38.0 characters 80.9 characters +113%
Client C 31.9 characters 46.9 characters +47%
Overall (Blended) +85%

Across the full sample, AI-optimized titles were 85% longer on average than the originals. That’s not a handful of cherry-picked products – that’s a blended result across three different clients’ entire catalogs.

Real Examples: It’s Not Just Longer, It’s Smarter

Numbers only tell part of the story, so here’s what this actually looks like on real products from the study. In each case, the AI didn’t just pad the title – it pulled out genuinely useful, searchable attributes that were missing before: capacity, material, power rating, hinge type, warranty length, field of view, and more.

Notice that none of these reads as keyword-stuffed or spammy – every added word is a real product attribute a shopper might search for. That distinction matters, and it’s exactly what the platforms themselves are looking for.

Why This Matters, According to Google

This isn’t just an agency opinion. Google’s own Merchant Center guidance is explicit about what makes a strong product title, and it lines up closely with what we’re seeing in this data.

  • Google directly advises using keywords in titles, since they help connect a product with what a shopper is searching for and help that shopper recognize what’s being sold.
  • Google recommends using the full character allowance and including the attributes that define a product, such as size, color, and material, rather than a bare-bones label.
  • Because titles are one of the most prominent signals Google uses to match a product to a search query, a more specific and complete title helps Google show that product to the right customers.

In other words, the goal isn’t length for its own sake – it’s completeness. A title that spells out capacity, material, compatibility, or warranty is simply giving Google (and the shopper) more accurate information to match against. That’s the mechanism behind the numbers in this study: AI optimization is filling in exactly the kind of attribute-level detail that Google’s own guidance says drives better matching and stronger ad performance.

The Adhere Digital Advantage

This is exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes optimization we build into every feed we manage. Tools like DataFeedWatch let us apply AI-driven improvements at scale – across thousands of SKUs – that would take a human team weeks to do manually, and do it consistently, so our clients’ feeds are always working as hard as possible for their ad spend.

It’s a small example of a bigger philosophy: we look for every legitimate lever available in a feed and an account before we ever recommend increasing budget. Title optimization is one of many levers we pull as part of ongoing feed management for our clients.
